Episode 3: What Happens When You're Forced to Retire?

Not everyone gets to choose their retirement date.

test

Many of us have a retirement age in mind, whether that’s 55, 65 or well into our 70s. Unfortunately, a large number of Canadians will be forced to leave the working world earlier than planned, either because of a later-in-life layoff or a health crisis.

Exiting the workforce before we’re ready can trigger significant mental and financial distress, in part because we never think we’ll be faced with a forced retirement. The more we can plan for the unexpected, though, the better off we’ll be.

The third episode of our Reimaging Retirement podcast looks at what kind of stress leaving work earlier than planned can cause and how people can deal with this kind of sudden change.
