IG Wealth Management Launches IG Empower Your Tomorrow Indigenous Commitment
The IG Empower Your Tomorrow program is our commitment to providing Canadians with the education and resources they need to feel confident about their finances.
IG Wealth Management has been sharing its financial expertise with Canadians for more than 90 years. During that time, IG has contributed over $100 million in support to the communities where we live, work and play. Annually, we provide more than $7 million in community support across Canada, with $1.6 million per year allocated directly by our region offices at the grassroots level.
Every year, IG supports over 800 charities by encouraging and empowering over 2,100 employees and 3,700 advisors to volunteer through various programs, initiatives, and offerings. Inspiring the financial confidence of Canadians is IG’s vison and the basis for our commitment to building communities.
IG Wealth Management is committed to building strong communities across Canada. We believe this starts with Canadians feeling confident about their finances so they can achieve their goals. The IG Empower Your Tomorrow program gives Canadians the resources and confidence they need to own their financial future.
With the help of our annual Financial Confidence Index, an annual report designed to inform how Canadians feel about their finances and where support is needed most, we’ve identified a real opportunity to increase the financial education of Canadians. Four key groups that stand to benefit the most from financial guidance include Indigenous peoples, newcomers, seniors and youth. By working with community partners and organizations – along with our employees and clients – we’re building confidence where it counts.
The IG Financial Confidence Index tracks and reports on Canadians' overall financial confidence. The fall 2020 edition confirms that Canadians coast-to-coast continue to persevere despite the challenges and impacts of COVID-19. Even with an overall rise in financial confidence, certain groups including youth and Indigenous communities continue to sit below the national average when it comes to their personal finances, which is why we continue to support these groups.

As part of our mission to make all Canadians financially confident, we’re committed to supporting communities through seminars, events and programs to help create a better financial future for those who will benefit the most: Indigenous peoples, newcomers, seniors and youth.
Over the next five years, we are committing $5 million to support partnerships and initiatives for Indigenous communities across Canada. Together, we can instill financial confidence in the lives of thousands and secure a brighter financial future for all.
Indigenous peoples are a vital part of our country’s culture, yet many face unique barriers to financial wellness on a daily basis.
It’s crucial that we set Indigenous families up for a financially successful future. Our Indigenous population represents the country’s First Peoples and the fastest growing segment of Canada’s population. We’ve partnered with organizations such as Opportunities for Employment to provide both financial education and job training to Indigenous peoples and we also fund scholarships for Indigenous students at both the local and national level with organizations like Indspire.
I learned about the many resources available in Winnipeg to help us manage our money, and find support when we are in financial trouble. Now that I am working, I can share my knowledge with my coworkers and in my community.

Newcomers are an integral part of our growing country, but many of them have financial goals that feel unreachable.
Learning the financial systems of a new country can be daunting, which is why we work with the Canadian Foundation of Economic Education (CFEE) to provide financial education in their first language.
We have also partnered with United Way to offer financial literacy programs in communities large and small. Partners for more than 50 years, $20 million have been contributed to communities across Canada.
IG’s ongoing commitment empowers thousands of Canadians through valuable asset building, job skills and money management programs and services.

The seniors, parents and grandparents of our communities often face unique financial challenges that come with age.
That’s why we offer support through financial planning workshops designed to guide seniors through financial considerations in collaboration with our national partners including the Alzheimer Society of Canada. IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is the largest annual fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society. It supports vital programs and services offered free-of-charge to the millions of Canadians impacted by the disease.
In the face of one of the most challenging health issues of our times, we are proud to partner with an organization that shares our commitment to making a difference in the lives of Canadians living with dementia.

Our future teachers, caregivers, business leaders and professionals need to start off on the right financial foot.
Education is the most important tool we can give our youth. With the help of the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE), we’ve distributed more than half a million Money and Youth textbooks to students across the nation and hosted thousands of students at workshops.
Through various initiatives over several years, we’ve been able to work with IG and impact the financial education curriculum in provinces across Canada and improve the ability of hundreds of thousands of Canadians to better undertake their financial decisions.
