Investors Group Account View and Privacy
Investors Group is committed to protecting the privacy and security of all Client personal information that it may collect and maintain in the course of carrying on its business. This includes any information about you which may be collected in connection with this Account View Site ("Site").
Information which is provided by you for purposes of registration on the Site is collected, held and used for the purposes of (i) verifying your identity, (ii) restoring your access to this Site in the event that you have forgotten your User ID or your Password and (iii) addressing any concerns that a violation of this User Agreement, a fraudulent or illegal act or an abuse of this Site has occurred. No other use will be made of such information. Any information which you provide for purposes of registration on this Site (including name, email address, telephone number or Postal Code) will not be used to update your personal information which is maintained on Investors Group's client and account records. Any changes to that information should be communicated directly to your Consultant. You are entitled to review any personal information about you which is acquired or held by Investors Group in connection with this Site and to have any errors in that information rectified. This may be done by contacting Investors Group.
Investors Group may from time to time utilize third party service providers to provide certain tools or software for the operation of this Site or certain hardware and facilities on which this Site may be hosted and maintained. Investors Group will enter into agreements with such third parties which oblige them to maintain the security and confidentiality of all data which they may have access to as a result, including information which may identify a User.
Investors Group may collect information regarding your use of the Site, including the times of logging onto and off of the Site, which pages on the Site you choose to access and the links on this Site which are used. This information may be used for managing and developing the Site, helping to resolve problems and analyzing use of this Site. The User ID and Password you enter, and the IP address of your computer, are also required by Investors Group and used for enforcing the security features of the Site and the provisions of the User Agreement, and for the detection of fraud, abuse of this Site and attempts to circumvent the security features of this Site, and of any attempts to do the foregoing. Such information will not be provided to any person other than the affiliates and services providers of Investors Group engaged in the support and maintenance of the Site, and to law enforcement authorities as required.
Protecting Your Own Privacy
There are steps which you can take to help ensure that your own privacy is protected.
Maintain the security and confidentiality of your User ID and Password. Never disclose or provide your User ID or Password to any other person (including to employees and Consultants of Investors Group), or permit any other person to gain access to this Site utilizing your User ID or Password. Investors Group will treat anyone who logs onto the Account View Site using your User ID and Password as being you.
Keep your User ID and Password is a safe place free from public view. Do not access the Site from computers in public locations where others may monitor you typing your User ID and Password. If you suspect that someone has learned either your User ID or your Password, you should immediately change your Password on the Profile page on the Site.
Personal computers are constantly being bombarded by malicious software ("malware") such as:
- viruses and similar software which will impair the functioning of your computer or corrupt or erase data stored on your computer
- software (including what are known as Trojan Horses, worms, and spyware) which allows a stranger to monitor everything that you do on your computer (including viewing your User ID and Password)
- software which allows a stranger to gain control remotely over the use and operation of your computer.
Therefore it is imperative that you install and keep current ant-virus and anti-spyware on your computer. As well, good computing practice means that you are careful in what websites you visit and email attachments you open, in case any of them contain or will install malware on your computer.
Always access the Site only from your own computer. Another person's computer may not be free from malware even though it is otherwise safe and secure, and may also allow that person to track your User ID and Password.
Clear your Internet browser regularly so that confidential information is not stored on your computer. Instructions on how to o this are contained in the Frequently Asked Questions page on the Site.
Never use email to send personal or confidential information. Any communications with Investors Group or your Consultant regarding such matters, including any problems which you may be experiencing with the Site, should be by telephone, by letter or in person.
Investors Group and Privacy
The nature of the business it conducts and the services which it provides to its Clients requires that Investors Group collects and maintains personal information regarding its Clients. Some of this information is about you, your personal financial situation and your personal plans, which is required not only so that Investors Group and your Consultant may make suitable recommendations to you, but also is required to be collected by law or by industry and securities regulators.
