Investors Group increases support of National Volunteer Week

Ottawa, ON – Volunteer Canada today announced a three-year commitment from Investors Group, totaling $300,000 in support of National Volunteer Week. The renewed Investors Group commitment is an increase of $75,000 over three years.

"Volunteers are the tireless engines that help so many worthy charitable endeavors to continue to run. Investors Group is committed to working with communities across Canada to help ensure they remain healthy, happy, vital places to live and work."

In 2007, National Volunteer Week takes place April 15-21, and will celebrate the slogan, Volunteers Grow Community. National Volunteer Week first began in 1943 as a volunteer recruitment effort to enlist women for wartime voluntary service. The concept of a week devoted to volunteers was revived during the late 1960s. National Volunteer Week is a project of Volunteer Canada funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Volunteerism Initiative.
