Investors Group announces proposed changes to Investors Corporate Bond Fund
Winnipeg, MB – April 29, 2005: Investors Group today announced proposed changes to the Investors Corporate Bond Fund.
Since its launch in 1994, the Fund has offered investors the potential to earn higher yields through investing primarily in corporate bonds.
Upon unitholder and regulatory approval, the $1.2 billion Fund will be able to take advantage of opportunities across all Canadian bond market sectors by investing in government issued (or guaranteed) debt, and up to 10% of its assets in other income producing non-debt securities, in addition to corporate bonds.
In conjunction with these changes, the name of the Fund is proposed to change to become "Investors Canadian Bond Fund," as this better reflects the Fund's revised investment objective and strategy.
This broader focus is expected to provide the Fund with the latitude to add greater diversity to its investment portfolio, better enabling the Fund to diversify its credit risk and potentially enhance the Fund's return and volatility characteristics.
Unitholders of the Fund will be asked to approve these changes at a unitholder meeting scheduled for June 14, 2005 . If approved, the changes are expected to take effect once the prospectus of the Fund is revised in late June, subject to regulatory approval.
