In Their Own Words: Ida Templeton, CFP

Clients must believe they are getting a personal wealth management experience

Ida Templeton, CFP, Regional Director, Greater Vancouver West

Freedom and the ability to help people drew Ida Templeton to Investors Group in 1995. Before joining Investors Group, Ida worked for the Department of Justice, pursuing a career in Law. "But I soon saw that being a lawyer would not provide the independence, remuneration and challenges I wanted. At Investors Group, I realized that by working hard and smart, I would be able to help more people, be paid more and have the freedom I desired."

In 1999, Ida was promoted to Division Director. "As an Division Director, I try to bring extra value to Consultants as people first and as financial planners second—if I do this well, I know we'll all be more successful. It's very satisfying to see my team of relatively new Consultants thrive on the challenge of building a profitable business."

Ida never forgets how hard a Consultant's job really is. "I give my team full credit for all the work they put into their practices. I try to create a fun and competitive environment that includes every possible support to make their job easier—from individual coaching sessions to customized 'high-net worth' presentation packages."

Ida counsels her team to stay upbeat and positive. "The more confidence they have in themselves and Investors Group, the greater success they have in front of clients and the easier it is for them to keep clients focused on the great value they're providing—not on things like short-term performance. Investors Group Consultants—and the products and services we offer—are in a class above all others. We provide clients with a personal wealth management experience they can't get anywhere else. We also provide Consultants with an environment in which to build satisfying, remunerative, long-lasting careers."
