In Their Own Words: Michael Parson, CFP

The key to success—believe you will make a difference with every client

Michael Parson, Consultant, Kitchener-Waterloo Guelph, traded a hockey career for success with Investors Group.

Four years ago, Michael Parson made a breakaway from his old life as a minor pro hockey player to a new career with Investors Group and it was the best move he ever made.

"I wanted to be sure I didn't wake up one day with my hockey career behind me and zero assets. That's why I studied the stock market and began an economics degree at the University of Guelph. I became interested in Investors Group through positive comments from one of my professors then got in touch with an old high school friend and Consultant, Todd Moser. Todd clearly laid out the pros and cons of an Investors Group career. The only 'con' was hard work-and I'm a very hard worker-so the pros totally outweighed the cons."

As a new Consultant, Michael's number one activity was "speaking to everyone I knew. I was convinced that 'no' doesn't necessarily mean 'no' a week later. I asked prospects to give me even a small opportunity to earn their trust-and many did."

Michael has built a strong practice by stressing service and honesty. "I want my clients to know that friends don't let down friends."
